Kyle McKenzie sets record at International event

The highlight of Kyle’s tour was setting a new record in the Pesaro leg of the of the Circuito Nuoto Italia when he won gold swimming in the 200 Individual Medley event. Kyle added to his medal count, winning a bronze in the 200m breaststroke event.

In Treviso, Kyle scored a second bronze medal in the 400 Individual Medley lowering his own Eastern Gauteng record time by a further 4 seconds, swimming 4: 46: 05. Later, Kyle enjoyed a photo opportunity with two of the greatest 400 IM swimmers in the world of Chad Le Clos and Laszlo Cseh (a Hungarian swimmer, and 6 time Olympic medalist.)

Kyle finaled in all but 2 events, swimming a grueling program of 100 and 200 races, scoring many points for the Aquatic Gauteng Team.

Kyle Mckenzie competed in the Circuito Nuoto Italia in late June this year. The Pesaro and Treviso events are a part of the European circuit, attracting swimmers of the caliber of South African Chad Le Clos and Laszlo. Exceptional experience for our younger swimmers, that need international competition and exposure to step up to the next level.

Swimmers from Gauteng that were invited to participate in two swimming championships in Italy, had to qualify for the privilege to tour. Swimmers work hard to swim fast, enduring many grueling hours of training, 6 days a week.
