OR Tambo Socini Games

Four ESP swimmers were selected to compete for Ekurhuleni in the O R Thambo Socini Inaugural Games. The opening Ceremony was held at the Germiston Stadium.

The Ekurhuleni team were well sponsored, and proudly wore new memorial tracksuits, golf and t shirts, caps, swimming caps, and kit bags…… a definite bonus considering the icy weather.

Cold weather in conjunction with outdoor pools is not condusive to encouraging fast swimming, however all the provincial athletes showed their grit and determination, posting some excellent times in the Delville pool

Kyle McKenzie swam 6 events swimming 2 PB times. The 200 IM he completed in 2 minutes 13: 58. Kyle has qualified for the SA Junior Nationals and the SA Youth Nationals that will be staged at the end of the 2017/8 season. Kyle scored 88 points for Ekurhuleni and won a gold medal. Bernelee Doster scored 43 points. Clayton Malaza added 21points and his brother Oyama, another 13 points.

ESP Chairman Andrew McKenzie was Manager, and Liz Humphrey coach for the Ekurhuleni team at this event
